Advanced Cooking Over Fire Course
Join us in our Woodland Kitchen to learn how to tame the fire and create delicious meals, for those keen to expand their skills and master new fire cooking techniques.
This course is designed for those with some experience with cooking over fire, who are keen to expand their repertoire and learn to master a selection of new fire cookery techniques.
Our day begins with a gentle meander up to our woodland glen. Along the way, we will gather a selection of wild ingredients, introducing you to the tasty morsels that nature’s larder has to offer.
After a restorative brew, we will learn how to make fire using natural tinders, transforming a tiny spark into a flame and giving you the opportunity to slow down into the rhythm of the woods.
A full day of immersive fire fuelled cooking, our advanced cooking over fire course takes you on a deeper journey into the art of cooking over the flames.
Fires crackling and curiosity sparked, we will spend the day covering a range of more advanced fire cookery techniques. This may include hot smoking in our Big Green Egg, using our hanging frames to suspend joints of meat, spit roasting, coal baking or asado. We’ll also cover how to sustain a better range of heat to cook multiple dishes throughout the day.
On our Advanced Cooking Over Fire course, we will be expanding on your fire cookery knowledge, building on the skills you may have previously learnt from our Seasonal Cooking Over Fire course.
How We Teach
This course revolves around a combination of cookery demonstrations and hands-on experience! We will start by cooking up a hearty brunch, followed by a further four dishes throughout the day, ranging from light bites to hearty feasts!
Whether you’re flying solo or joining us with friends and family, the focus of all of our courses is showing you the incredible potential seasonal and local ingredients have in your outdoor kitchen, as well as how to incorporate new techniques into your everyday cooking.
To round off the day we will finish with our very own homemade seasonal marshmallows, toasted over our burning embers as a little pick me up before heading home, full of food and inspiration (and our Fire Cookery Guide and Recipe Pack).

Looking to join both our Seasonal Cooking Over Fire Course and our Advanced Cooking Over Fire Course? These courses often take place on consecutive days throughout the year. Attend both and receive £25 pp to spend on our range of products during your visit.
Our woodland kitchen is fired by FireMade UK pits and hanging frames, fuelled with charcoal from Green Olive Firewood and a mix of locally seasoned hardwood logs.
We may also feature a wide selection of fire equipment, which may include Big Green Egg ceramic cookers, Gozney Roccbox pizza ovens, Kadai fire bowls, spit roast machines and more.
You’ll find us on the Priory Farm Estate in the village of South Nutfield in Surrey. Our woodland classroom is a 5 minute walk from our barn, where we gather before our day in the woods begins.
Beneath the trees, you’ll find our tipi and wooden shelter, which houses our kitchen and dining area. Throughout the seasons, we embrace the great outdoors in all its glory!
Our Advanced Cooking Over Fire course is designed for those with some experience with cooking over fire, who are keen to expand their repertoire and learn to master a selection of new fire cookery techniques.
Our menus are best suited for flexible, adventurous eaters and is not suitable for vegetarians.
This course is suitable for guests aged 14+.
