Woodland Inks for Beginners and Seasonal Lunch

Woodland Inks for Beginners and Seasonal Lunch

in collaboration with Surrey Art School

Friday 1st May 2020 | 10:30am – 1:30pm

Join us for a creative workshop and seasonal lunch in our woodland glen.

Join us for a mindful morning in the forest where we’ll slow things down and take time drink in our surroundings with a seasonal inspired woodland inks workshops led by Surrey Art School founder Ellie Green.

We’ll start with ‘mindful looking’ using our eyes to scan the bare branches of the trees, looking for texture, changes in colour, light and noticing where the shadows fall. We’ll then be reaching for our oak gall inks and with some tuition from Ellie, will learn how to use our brush effectively to record the shapes and forms of the forest.

We’ll spend the rest of the morning creating dreamy Spring studies of the woodland – playing with washes and working with a range of different brushes and brush strokes to capture our surroundings.

Following the art class, we’ll sit down at our shared dining table for lunch beneath the trees, inspired by seasonal, local ingredients.

I had a fabulous morning with Surrey Art School monoprinting , followed by an amazing lunch cooked in the woods by Team Salt Box. A gorgeous setting, delicious food and super lovely people - well done! I'll be back!
Would so highly recommend The Salt Box. The food at all the events I’ve attended has been delicious, interesting and locally sourced. Their ethos is brilliant.
