Teen Cookery Course

Teen Cookery Course

Our teen cookery workshops are specifically designed to inspire and re-wild budding young chefs, creating a feast over fire at our Woodland Cookery School.

From mastering the basic steps of fire lighting to learning how to manage your fires appropriately, in this hands-on class teens will learn to make a collection of dishes in a relaxed and informative environment surrounded by the crackle and pop of fires with like minded people.

All of the dishes covered are designed to be cooked over an open-fire, but are equally as achievable as in a conventional kitchen at home.

  • Traditional fire lighting using flint and steel.
  • Knife safety and introduction to knife skills.
  • Different methods for cooking over fire.
  • Introduction to butchery, learning to to pluck, draw and quarter a pigeon
  • Creation of three dishes, including a starter, main course, and pudding, including:
    • Coal baked carrot hummus
    • Pigeon tacos w/ burnt salsa
    • Planked trout, nettle pesto potatoes
    • For pudding, Honey cookie hazel leaf dolmade

Cooking with your classmates is an integral part of our cookery workshops. You will cook some of your recipes in pairs, and some independently – but whatever the ratio, there is always more than enough food, and often food to take home too (please bring along a couple of containers, to prevent unnecessary single-use plastic).
