Rewild your Child

Rewild your Child

with The Salt Box and Surrey Art School

Let the world become our classroom and let nature provide the tools as we re-wild our approach to creativity and cooking, inviting your young artists and budding chefs to a wild morning in the woods.

This summer season, The Salt Box and Surrey Art School are joining forces for a series of youth and family workshops where the beautiful woodland will inspire some wild creative adventures using our natural environment as inspiration!

These events take place in our woodland glen on the beautiful Priory Farm estate in South Nutfield, Surrey.

Tuesday 30th July

9:30am – 1:00pm

Spirit of the Woods

There’s magic in the woods if you stop and listen to the whisper of the trees. We’ll be designing and making our own nature spirits using only natural materials from the woodland itself. Working with ancient symbols we’ll also create symbol stones hiding secret messages, wishes and dreams.

Following our art workshop, we’ll gather our budding chefs in our outdoor kitchen for a cookery course led by Christian from The Salt Box, preparing a two-course feast to enjoy around the campfire for lunch.

Tuesday 6th August

9:30am – 1:00pm

See the Light

Photography can help anchor us to the present moment, encouraging us to notice subtle changes in light, texture and colour in our surroundings. We’ll take a lovely mindful photography walk through the woods before creating photographs using only the power of the sun.

Creepy Crawlies

We’ll be using insects, bugs, bees and butterflies as inspiration for a fun print-making session using non toxic, vegetable oil based inks to create drawings and capture the textures of the forest.
