Plastic Free Beeswax Wraps Workshop

Join us for a relaxed morning in the barn learning how to make your very own beeswax wraps.

Learn how to reduce your single-use-plastic in your kitchen with Beckie from The Salt Box.

We all know that single-use plastic is detrimental to our environment and our health. In Europe alone, the demand for plastic has reached a high of 49 million tonnes a year, of which 40 per cent is packaging.

As a food business, we’re increasingly aware of the incredibly high volume of single use plastic in the food chain. We’re doing all we can to reduce our plastic use, and we want to encourage you to make a few changes for a little less plastic in your lives, and help your friends and family do the same.

Beeswax wraps are a natural eco-friendly alternative to cling film and tin foil for wrapping food, covering bowls and jars. They keep food fresh, are naturally anti-bacterial, can be reused, refreshed and are compostable. And – they’re a lot prettier than cling film too!

During this workshop, Beckie will show you how to make beeswax wraps, how to care for them and the many different ways that you can use them. All equipment and course material will be provided and at the end of the day you’ll get to take what you make to show off to your friends and family. Beeswax wraps make great eco gifts!

If you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, reduce waste to landfill, reduce chemical-laden plastic food packaging or looking for ways to become more zero waste then this is for you.

All materials will be provided, including ingredients and an assortment of colourful organic fabrics for your beeswax wraps. If you have any cotton fabric that you would like to use for this workshop, please do feel free to bring it along!

You’ll go home with 4 reusable beeswax wraps that you can keep for yourself (or gift to family or friends), as well as instructions and the confidence to replicate beeswax wraps at home.

We’ll also fire up a brew or two, as well as enjoy a slice (or two) of homemade cake.
