Fire and Spice Cookery Course

Join us for a day in the woods immersed in the warmth of fire and spice, learning how to balance spices perfectly to compliment a feast cooked over the fire

Learn how to create insatiable plates of food seasoned with fire and spice on our brand new course for 2021. We’ll be cooking a selection of dishes over the fire, inspired by the flavours of the East, in a relaxed and informative atmosphere, surrounded by the crackle and pop of fire.

 

Our food-filled adventure starts with a walk up to our woodland glen, gathering a selection of wild ingredients on our way.  After a restorative wildly spiced chai  in our woodland kitchen, we will then turn our attention to the main business of the day; lighting our fires. You will learn to build, light and control the fire. We will guide you in your wood selection and teach you to spark your flame by demonstrating multiple methods.

 

Fires crackling and curiosity sparked, we will then introduce you to a medley of fire cookery methods, which may include skillet cooking, grilling, coal baking, charring, planking, dutch oven baking and hot smoking. Keen to pass on methods that are safe for the environment and for yourselves, we will give you tips on sustainably sourcing your firewood and also advise you on how to practice your new skill as safely as possible. 

 

We will be using a selection of homemade spice blends to create dishes with beautifully layered flavours.  We’ll be cooking a selection of dishes over the fire, indulging in delicately spiced morsels and working together to create a feast inspired by the flavours of the East. Our cookery school offers a learning experience in a relaxed and informative atmosphere, surrounded by the crackle and pop of fire.

 

Expect to head home smelling of wood smoke, with plenty of food and fire in your bellies. We’ll send you an email recipe pack so that you can get started at home straight away.
