Family Wild Cookery Day

Join us in the woods for our Family Wild Cookery Day

Based in our woodland glen on the Priory Farm estate in South Nutfield, join us for a day with the family of wild cookery beneath the trees, suitable for children aged 9+.

Through our family courses, we provide a platform for adults and children to learn alongside one another. We want to let children be children, learning by exploring, facing challenges and experiencing the elements of the seasons. We wholeheartedly believe that cooking is up there as one of the most valuable skills you can teach a child – not only providing them with an important life skill, but also helping develop maths and coordination skills – and encouraging adventurous eating.

As part of the day, we’ll sit down at our shared dining table beneath the trees for a delicious 3-course feast, cooked over an open-fire and inspired by seasonal, local ingredients.

What we’ll cover:

Firelighting Workshop
  • Tinder collecting, including discovering Cramp ball fungus
  • How to use a Ferro rod and striker

Cookery Workshop
  • Basic knife skills
  • Introduction to butchery

Dishes may include:
  • Hay baked carrot hummus, flatbreads
  • Planked trout w/  nettle pesto potatoes
  • Rabbit burgers w/ mange tout frazzles, smoked garlic mayo
