More than ever, we are all keen to reconnect with our family and friends – indulging in delicious food and drink in the great outdoors.
Our supper clubs guarantee a warm welcome, a seasonal tipple and a feast from our flickering flames. Ingredients are foraged, seasonal or wild and are locally sourced from the very best of Surrey and Sussex farmers and producers.
Showcasing the very best of our doorstep produce, our feasts kick off with a seasonal cocktail, created using local spirits and homemade liqueurs, infused with foraged herbs and berries.
Fires crackling and curiosity sparked, at the centre of our events is a menu featuring seasonally and locally inspired ingredients. Each feast is unique, with a set menu inspired by our nose-to-tail and root-to-fruit ethos as we strive to reconnect people with what’s on their plate.
As we make our way through the menu, our chef will provide a little insight into the story behind each dish. And what better place to dine than under our woodland canopy, surrounded by the snap, crackle and pop of the fires?
Our woodland glen is based on a beautiful private estate in South Nutfield, just outside of Redhill, a 30 minute direct train from London. We have a woodland shelter in the event of wet weather, but please do ensure to dress appropriately.
Expect to head home smelling of wood smoke, with plenty of food and fire in your bellies.

Our menus are best suited for flexible, adventurous eaters with a strong focus on seasonally and locally inspired ingredients, including wild and foraged foods sourced from nature’s larder.
Due to the nature of our events and in order to uphold high-quality standards we are only able to accommodate limited dietary requests at our dining events and cookery courses. Our dining events are intimate affairs with small groups, centred around a set menu lovingly prepared in our remote woodland kitchen by our small kitchen team, therefore preparing a separate menu to cater for dietary needs is not always possible.
Dietary needs must always have been communicated and approved prior to booking your seat at our table, and must be advised to our team no later than 7 days prior to the event so that our chef’s can make the necessary arrangements.
To ensure social distancing, bookings can only be made for 2+ guests. We invite you to come in groups who are comfortable with eating together, with no more than two households as per government guidelines. Social distancing, enhanced hygiene measures, specific risk assessments and careful management of our team are just a few of the measures we are taking. Our dining spot is a 5-10 minute walk from our Parking area. Toilet facilities are available near the Parking area, by our barn.
Instructions on how to find us and where to park, will be sent to you at least 72 hours prior to the event via email.
Here at The Salt Box we have been exploring ways to be able to welcome a handful more of you at our Feasts over Fire. We continue to follow government guidelines on Social Distancing at our events and cookery courses, with the current restrictions limiting our capacity.
Here in our Woodland Glen, pre-COVID we used to be able to seat 36 guests under our shelter. With the current restrictions, this has now been reduced to around 18-20 guests, depending on the size of the small groups attending.
We are very lucky to have plenty of space up beneath the trees, so we are releasing a number of additional seats to a handful of events that are ‘Weather Dependent’. These tables will be situated just outside of our woodland shelter, more exposed to the Great British elements!
For these seats, 72 hours prior to the event – we will consult the Met Office Weather Forecast and if there is a 30% chance of rainfall or greater, we will need to cancel these seats and will of course provide you with a full refund.
Please note that due to the additional COVID-19 restrictions in place, tickets to our events and courses are currently only available for a minimum of 2 guests per booking. At our courses, each booking group (2+) will share a fire-pit and cookery station, to ensure social distancing between all guests. This will be reviewed as and when government guidelines are revised.
