Autumn Foraging Walk

Our food and art collaborations guarantee a warm welcome, a gentle dose of mindful creativity and a wildly and seasonally inspired meal.
Take a walk on the wild side, as we introduce you to the hidden delights of nature’s spring larder. When done carefully and sustainably, foraging is a great way of connecting with our natural environment and making the most of the ingredients on our doorstep. You can’t get more local than your nearest hedgerow!

We’ll start the day with a wild tea, before we head on a walk through fields, woodlands and along tracks, with a syllabus built around what is not just seasonally available, but delicious too!

Walking at a gentle pace upon a variety of terrains, we will guide you through tips on harvesting, correct identification and possible look-alikes. As well as covering how to keep foraging safe and sustainable, the focus will be on how you can use wild food in your cooking, including recipe ideas and tips on including wild ingredients in your home kitchen.

Surrey Art School founder Ellie will then guide you through an introduction to Nature Journalling, whilst taking you on a gentle walk, stopping to observe the surrounding nature as the season unfolds.

Nature Journaling is growing in popularity – it’s about connecting to your surroundings through a creative lens and using simple questions to enquire into and learn about your natural surroundings. With a drawing board, a range of paper and some samples of beautiful artist-quality watercolour paints, you’ll learn the names of flowers and plants, the song of different birds and some beginner-friendly sketching and painting techniques to capture the essence of a natural space.

Following the Art workshop, we’ll sit down at our shared dining table beneath the trees for a 2-course wildly and seasonally inspired picnic lunch.

Dietary Requirements

Our menus are best suited for flexible, adventurous eaters with a strong focus on seasonally and locally inspired ingredients, including wild and foraged foods sourced from nature’s larder.

At our Art Collaborations, alongside our main menu we can cater for Vegetarians and Gluten Free guests.

Due to the nature of our events and in order to uphold high-quality standards we are only able to accommodate limited dietary requests at our dining events and cookery courses. Our dining events are intimate affairs with small groups, centred around a set menu lovingly prepared in our remote woodland kitchen by our small kitchen team, therefore preparing a separate menu to cater for dietary needs is not always possible.

Please Note

Our Woodland Glen is a 5 minute walk from our car-park, with an uphill section.
