Events Assistant

Are you a passionate, hard-working individual with a passion for food and the great outdoors? We have a busy schedule of events in the diary and we’re on the hunt for part-time support to assist us!


The Salt Box is a celebration of seasonal food and open-fire cookery through the coming together of people beneath the trees, creating delicious food from nature’s humble ingredients.  We celebrate locally sourced and wild ingredients through our wide range of cookery courses and dining events, all in the great outdoors surrounded by crackling fires.


We are a small business with big ambitions. We set out in Autumn 2017 and have since welcomed over 2000 diners to over 60 events, through supper clubs, private/corporate catering and cookery courses.


At the core of The Salt Box is a loyal customer base, we focus strongly on outstanding customer service and building strong relationships with our customers.

You’ll be involved in assisting in all areas of running our events, which often take place beneath the trees in the great outdoors.


Duties and Responsibilities


The role involves working flexible hours on a freelance basis, assisting us at events and cookery workshops, which take place within approximately 20 miles of Reigate. Shifts would generally be between 4-8 hours depending on location, with approximately 75% of work required in the late afternoon/evening.


Key Responsibilities


  • Assisting in the set-up/de-rig of the event
  • Preparing the table/service areas
  • Welcoming guests to the event
  • Serving food and drink
  • Clearing tables and washing up
  • Supporting with capturing content for social media
  • Other ad hoc duties as and when required

  • Positive and friendly manner
  • Consistent, reliable and excited to be a key part of a growing team
  • Comfortable with working outdoors
  • Passion for food and drink
  • Pro-active approach to work duties with a willingness to get stuck in
  • Well-organised with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills
  • Driving License and own transport required


Desirable Attributes


  • Previous experience working in a hospitality/catering environment
  • Previous experience in assisting with the planning and organisation of events
